Career Exploration Reflection Essay

My trip to KQED was really cool! We really had a fun time with the whole tour. The people at KQED were really nice to us. They took the time to answer all of our questions and show us most of the equipment they had there. Although it wasn’t what I had expected it to be like I still liked it a lot.
I expected to see a much busier place. I thought the place would be packed with people and that there would be people running around and rushing.  The place was really calm though. There wasn’t that many people and the place was really quiet. The place was pretty big there was a lot of open space and a lot of rooms.
The trip was fun because the people working there were really nice. They took the time to answer all of our questions. They also showed us a lot of the technology equipment they had. They had hundreds of lights and they had a camera that cost about $160,000 with the stand and everything. One of my favorite parts was when we got to go into the radio studio. The radio person talked to us about the job and we got to hear him record live. That was a really nice experience. A funny moment we had was when Jaime tried to kick his gum and he fell backwards.
I learned a lot of useful information there. Our host was really educational with us. He taught us some new words like “Suspense of Disbelief“. Suspension of disbelief is when you’re watching TV and you literally think you’re a part of the show and that you’re in that little world. I also learned a lot of new things about TV that I didn’t know. I had never been in a TV studio or radio studio so it was a really cool experience.
I would definitely like to work in a place like KQED. I really like the technology and what they do in there. And I really liked the calm and quiet environment in there. I think if we would have gotten to see people actually recording live TV, we would’ve had a very interesting experience. I would really like to visit KQED again and I would consider working there if I had the chance to.
